Wanted

You'll never believe how the bullet goes...

This movie… is the shit. Forget reality. Forget rules. This is an action movie. And as an action movie, it is… the best as they come. No steamy sex scenes with overly hot babes or quirky characters. This is pure action at its best. If you haven’t watched it, go watch it. Now, I’m going to spoil it for you.

It’s high in octane from start to finish. There’ll be blood, bullets and pain all the way through the movie. The hero of this movie, Wesley is the son of an assassin. One that belongs in an organization that has existed over the millennium called the Fraternity. Weird name for a group that has been around for a 1000 years.

Thing is, Wesley and his dad (and probably majority of the Fraternity) have this special ability where they can make their hearts beat 400 times a second or something like that. Since there’s so much adrenaline running in their blood, they can perceive and act faster and probably gain above average speed and strength as well.

That’s pretty much enough info not to spoil the story completely. There’re some awesome scenes that are just bogus man… The scene where Angelina Jolie gets Wesley into the car by opening the door and drifting into him was just amazing. Any other scene of curving the bullets is damn good as well. As ludicrous as it is, it still provided a hell lotta eye candy for the action fan.

Ol’ Spiky’s Rating: 4.75 – A must watch to get your adrenaline pumping!

Alrighty then. Turns out Ivan was in town. Going to go yum cha with him tomorrow afternoon or something and then get the PS2s repaired. I can’t think of many games that are playable on it but I’m sure Rushdi can. Peace out y’all!

Catching Up With Movies

Finally, I’m done with exams and although I get sleepless nights thinking about the outcomes, I gotta remain positive. Rule of karma is that good things only happen if you stay happy. So, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do! I’m gonna be optimistic! 101%! Yarrrr~

First of all, before anything else, I would like to apologize to those that I had planned to go to Maison with this very night. My cousin was my ride home to Ipoh and they wanted to go home today. It is only common courtesy that I respect their wishes and if I’m going to get hell for being a human being, then I’ve got nothing to say. So… Sorry guys. Maybe next time.

Besides, I already got hammered on the night after the exams. That was the shit.

The Incredible Hulk

"You won't like me when I'm uh,... hungry"

I went to watch this armed with the knowledge of a couple of year’s worth of comic book storylines and back stories. I knew how it was going to go down and how things were going to end. I guess that’s the only reason why I see most fans enjoying it and not much of the others. I’ll just say that the battle between Hulk and the Abomination was better than Iron Man vs. Iron Monger.

The CGI and special this time round definitely blows Ang Lee’s version out of the water and outta the park. The Hulk has never looked this good and realistic, trust me on this one.

The downfall of this movie that I fail to see of this movie is the plot itself. It probably was the only reason the others that I went with did not enjoy this movie. The plot itself. The whole movie revolves around Banner trying to find a cure and getting hunted down by General Thunderbolt. Therefore it’s running… More running and more shooting and a bit of tears and smashing and then more running and more shooting.

Ol’ Spiky’s Rating: 4.2, for I am a fan of Marvel

If you’re a fan, you should already have watched it. If you aren’t, and you haven’t watched it, download it if your curiosity gets you. If you aren’t and you did watch it and hated it, ah well. Life’s like that. *wink*

Get Smart

Makes people appreciate Steve's work, that's for sure

I watched the trailer and it looks freakin’ funny as hell. And it sure is. IF… and only if you can tolerate/or a fan of Steve Carrell’s deadpan and clueless comedy deliveries. I have to say that the man can only pull the idiot role off without even trying. It worked well in Anchorman. It sure as hell worked well in The Office. Evan Almighty not so much because he stepped outta the idiot role. Get Smart… he’s back in his comfort zone and kicking ass.

Story is that Steve’s character, Maxwell Smart, has been trying for ages to be a field agent in a secret government spy organization known as CONTROL and their main enemy is KAOS, a terrorist group. Non-Muslim, don’t worry. They do employ the Great Khali as muscle, though. Hm.

So, one fine day, CONTROL HQ gets compromised and all field agents’ identities are revealed as well. Therefore, seeing as Max is competent but he has not been promoted as he has proven to be better at his old job, he was promoted instantly to handle the case of the CONTROL HQ bust-up and also KAOS’ latest nuclear crimes. He is teamed-up with Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) because she has undergone extensive plastic surgery recently and her face is still unknown to KAOS. So, together, they go to various locales on the globe and bumble in impressive and hilarious ways. I personally can’t get the image of Steve’s kiss and barf bag scene out of my head.

Ol’ Spiky’s Rating: 4.5 – Hilarious. Must watch!

One more thing that I must add, Anne Hathaway looks like she has not aged a bit. I don’t mean that she looks young, I mean she looks, y’know like a woman and yet she doesn’t look any more mature after that. Wow. I mean, she is FINE. Damn.

Gonna catch Wanted on Saturday, another “Must-watch” movie for the summer. That leaves Hancock, Hellboy 2 and the Dark Knight for this year.

Phew. Alrighty then. I can’t wait until Monday to get back to Sunway with the car and have some real fun!!! Peace out y’all!

Akin Water and Oil

I could say the same for frustration and boredom. They don’t mix well together. Trying to get my studies done but boredom hits me like a freight train every single time. It doesn’t even FEEL like a Sunday!!! *sobs*

Must thank Wing Hoh for that superb anime download site he gave me. I downloaded both seasons of Vandread already and I’m getting Medabots. Not exactly a new anime but it was nevertheless entertaining when they were airing it a few years back on Ntv7. Probably gonna attempt to catch up on Bleach and get into Gundam 00 when I’m done with Medabots. 100+ episodes for the 1st 2 good seasons only.

Holidays are coming up and for once, I manage to convince my mum to let me do what I want… for the 1st time, come to think of it. Although it’s laden with rather fucked up conditions which limit my fun, I’ll take what I can.

Urrrghhh… so damn bored!!! I want to play Cabal so badly! I want a PS3! I want GoW3! I also want to play Chains of Olympus!!! Gaaaahhh!!! So fucking frustrating. I finally got that spiffy Epaulette of Guardian +6 and now I have to wait… It looks so fucking cool!!! Damn… I’m seriously going over the edge here. I’m seriously scaring myself.

Fuck.

Still got so much movies left to watch. Hulk, Get Smart, Hancock, Hellboy 2 and Dark Knight. Not too keen about Hellboy since I hated the 1st one. Just wanna watch Get Smart ‘cause the trailer itself was freakin’ hilarious. Dark Knight… do I really have to say anything? Nuff’ said, indeed.

19 HOURS LEFT

Alright… time to pull that magic wand out and wish hard. Peace out y’all.

Leave Out All The Rest

Snap. I haven't studied the whole day. Just been chilling to this awesome weather the whole day. I went to YouTube to check on some new non-overplayed music videos. chanced upon a new video of LP's, Leave Out All the Rest, from the M2M album. Forgive me if I'm a tad behind the times, but the last time I checked, the TV here in Indahvilla's only good for 3 things: the PS2, collecting dust and one helluva paperweight.

Here's the video:

You know... It really reminds me of Sunshine, starring Michelle Yeoh and Scarecrow from Batman Begins. Other than that, they've finally released some of their better songs as singles into the market, like this one and Given Up. This song is definitely a personal fave for it's mellow feel.

Alright, time to get the motivation to start work. Peace out y'all.

Wading Around Still

Nuh-uh, this ain’t over yet. Still got 1 more paper left and this is the one with the cock the size of a lamp post and the libido of a bitch in heat. It’s gonna be torture, it’s gonna be slow and it sure as hell gonna be painful.

You could say I’m preparing a strategy to keep my pants on and perhaps be the one that’s behind.

Sexual innuendos aside, and delve with me once more into the insane once again. Here’s some backstory. One day one of my friends got an earful, or was talking about getting an earful regarding something about “fooling around with girls”. One way or another, it led back to religion. Nothing too deep, just skimming the waves.

Alright, this whole thing spawned various threads in my head. Some I will not disclose for I will probably go through what Christ went through once certain people have read it. I was thinking about the convenience that religion gave when it come to uh, relations between the opposite sex. It made followers comfortable and secure knowing that their other was happy and bound by their teachings. When the feeling of this comfort and security is broken, they seriously can’t handle it and it just all goes to hell ‘cause they can’t handle it. Whatever it is, I came to the conclusion that, “Rules are there for a reason. It keeps the followers happy”.

And of course, it got me thinking. I kinda remembered that when I was younger (Geez, I make it sound like I’m 70+) I always said that I would live a free life. No worries and no responsibilities ‘cept to myself. A life without rules. Scarily enough, I wished for another life. The polar opposite, for a split second. One that was bound by rules and orders. One where I can sleep peacefully at night, knowing that my life will be peaceful, calm and happy if I do as it says.

Even now, as I am typing this, about to fall asleep on my fucked up keyboard, I still do wonder which life I wanted. A life where securities are offered at the expense of your soul and perhaps, in the extreme, your identity OR a life that has no boundaries and rules that are only dictated by your will, where you play the devil and angel to yourself.

I tried putting myself in the shoes of a person who’s religious and follows the book to a dot. What if one day, that security that you have, is shattered? Due to the fact that you’ve placed so much faith into the “fact” that you will be safe, the impact, in theory, should be much more. I’m just speculating. This isn’t exactly what I’d be pretty worried about anyways.

My main dilemma is the life. The one with or without the rules. The scary part is the fact that I wanted the other one that I despised. Is it because that I’m going through a natural progression of my psyche? Is it inevitable? Biggest question that strikes me at this moment is:

Can I do what I want? When I want? Where I want? How I want?

Fuck. I think I lost myself back there a few paragraphs. Somehow I feel I haven’t done my thoughts justice. Remember, the BEST place to do pondering regarding the big picture is on The Throne. We all have sat on it and it’s the best place to think and perhaps to read the newspapers.

XD

4 MORE DAYS

Phew. Don’t send me to the psych ward yet. I ain’t done in this world. Peace out y’all!

The Deep End of the Pool of Blood

I would reckon I’m wading around that area. But as it is my blood, I really wouldn’t mind being in this predicament. Alright, I just realized that all the titles recently have been pretty morbid. Bear in mind that this all in the name of good twisted humor.

XD

Hehehehehe…

Anyways, last Wednesday’s exams didn’t go as well as I hoped it to be. I just hope that I get enough at least to be eligible for my supplementary exam. I dread the fact that I fail and need to trudge around for another semester doing some fucked up subject that I despise from day 1.

So, here I am, suffering to beat the odds for my next paper, the dreaded Personal Financial Planning paper. One subject that is based off human perceptions of theories and concepts that is only justifiable by their own accords. To make it sound a lot less dramatic and epic, it’s plain bullshit. Lecturer’s a nice guy, as I said before but by being Malaysian, he does lack the charisma and teaching capabilities that’s keeping him here in this country.

Bah, enough of this. I’m starting to get sleepy listening to myself.

What a Twist~!

I can never take another M.Night whatsisface movie ever again after what Robot Chicken has done to him. You may remember Mr. Night for movies like The Village and Signs. I am led to believe the plot of this movie to be caused by a really lame reason. Of course, I will not spoil it for you as I have for myself by asking around. Just some random bullshit I wanted to get outta my system. I’m off to watch The Hulk tonight! Hopefully this time Ang Lee’s taking notes! Hehehehe…

8 MORE DAYS

Peace out y’all!

“Awesomeness and Attractiveness”

I know I should be studying. I know I should be somewhere else but due to the fact that I know that I am fucking broke, I’m afraid there is time to be actively unaware of your other obligations. Except the 1st one. That’s one obligation that keeps the wounds to a minimum. You know what I mean. Anyways, I went to catch Kung Fu Panda at TGV on it’s premiere. I didn’t manage to get much people together due to the fact that everyone had exams coming or moths coming out of their wallets. That’s the middle of the year for ya…

They really did have to put that "Kung Fu Fighting" song in there somehow

Anyways… As far as I know, Kung Fu Panda had a star-studded cast and that’s pretty rare as this is an animation. We’re talking about hard hitters like Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu and of course… the panda man himself, Jack Black. I don’t whether it’s horrible that I didn’t recognize their voices or they’re just that damn good when voicing their characters. I would say this… if you enjoyed Forbidden Kingdom for it’s uh, rather family-fun-ish feel, you’ll enjoy this. If you thought the Forbidden Kingdom’s plot was retarded in a Down's syndrome way, watch Kung Fu Panda anyways ‘cause cartoons have the license to be… odd.

It isn’t that epic that it must be watched in a cinema but it’s worth at least 8-10 bucks to go watch it. However, I must insist that it’s download-worthy.

Ol’ Spiky’s Rating: 4.3/5

Laughed my ass off at Jack Black’s animated physical comedy. It does, as usual, contain the usual moral values that we must all adhere to and the lessons in life that must be learnt. All in all, watch it in any way you want.

Appleseed Ex Machina

Futuristic mecha goodness - Just what the doctor ordered

It seems that this movie has been out for quite some time already so I would say this review’s a year late, if I am not mistaken. I did some digging into this movie and it is based off a successful cyberpunk manga that was published in the late 1980s, judging from the manga’s art style, which reminds me of Ranma ½.

It seems that an anime already has been made and a separate OVA (Original Video Animation, for the uninformed) has been made already using high-tech 3D graphics at the time of production.

As usual, I’m not going to spoil the story for those who haven’t watched it and intend to. All I have to say is that the graphics for this movie is awesome. It comes close to another animated movie that is *very* close to my heart but still, no cigar. The storyline is solid and enjoyable but thank God it doesn’t have predictable twists. Voice acting is awesome and believable. I have heard of Appleseed before but I have never watched it before. However, this movie doesn’t confuse new viewers as it doesn’t focus much on the past storylines or character histories. Essential character histories are depicted in short flashbacks that don’t waste much time.

Of course, nothing comes close to this legend in making

Great graphics, awesome action and great for fans of futuristic mecha fun. Go download it!

Ol Spiky’s Rating: 4.7/5

*gasp* Only 3 more days! Back to work! Peace out y’all!

Calm Before the Never-Ending Storms

They just keep coming, don’t they? Over and over again. No, it’s not another freaky ass dream that draws inspiration from Hostel, The Thing or Alien! I’m talking about finals. Every semester there must be a “finals” post, guaranteed. This time, no bitchin’. This year’s been kind. Or strangely sadistic. Either way. I had a week to study for my 1st exam… and that was just about filling the blanks in some bloody import and export forms. Save your breath, Monash people, I know how unfair it is. I’ve heard enough bitchin’.

*wink*

Anyways… I had 2 weeks between each paper. My next 2 papers are on the same day and they’re a week from now. Then my final papers on the 23rd. Grand, eh? Heh heh heh… Anyways… I kinda established a mantra for myself to study better this time. It kinda goes like…

“Do you know what you know? Do you know what you don’t know?”

I know I’m fucked when I’m telling myself, “I don’t know what I don’t know”.

An established playlist definitely helps as well! I remember last sem being just Three Day’s Grace One-X album and RHCP’s Give It Away keeping me going through Red Bull-fed conciousness. This sem has been a mix of rock and hip-hop.

Ellegarden – Salamander (Jap band that has an unbelievable English sound)
In Flames – Come Clarity, Reflect the Storm and Crawl In Knives (Choiy!)
Avenged Sevenfold
Three Days Grace
OneRepublic
One Chance ft. Li’l Wayne – U Can’t
Li’l Wayne – Lollipop (Can’t believe only now they’re spamming it on air)
Paramore
Puddle of Mudd – Blurry, Control (Classics)
Hinder – Get Stoned (AMAZING)

All amazing stuff. Go look it up.

The Chop

Well, I’m outta the Freeloaders. For some reason I never stick long enough to any bands. Kurtz was well… let’s not say anymore. Valmanway… got ass raped even before we bent down. Fuck that sem’s VU Student Council. Poor ass bitches with poor management. God, I miss CIMP and even MUSA/MUISS’s pro organization and insane budgets. Oh giggity.

Nope, no love for VU, man. It’s better off touching itself.

It was coming anyways… Lackluster performances during rehearsals and of course, it’s always a bummer being a replacement for someone that’s OBVIOUSLY waaa—haayyy better than you. Nah man… it’s all cool. No unnecessary hard feelings. I had the best fun in my music life. Thanks guys.

Let’s see what happens in Aussieland when I get back in touch with Kelvin. Hopefully we can pull something outta our asses. I have written some tight material recently. Bitter experiences DO bring out the best material! Keep that in mind. Take every bitter memory and just pour it out on a piece of paper. Use any words. You’d be surprised at yourself. It could be pleasant or plain ass disturbing.

House – Season Finale

FUCK. House is over again. This time the ending’s amazing. I, of course, ain’t gonna spoil it for you. By the way, I’m referring to the current season that AXN’s showing. It’s about the new interns right? I would say everything in the middle was mediocre… The last and 2nd last episode is the shit! Made up for everything else. Be sure to watch if you’re a House addict, like me, you’re crazy for Olivia Wilde (Number 13), like me, OR you just like semi-sadistic dark humour. You guessed it. Like me!

*grin*

Excellent. I’m done. Back to work. Good luck to those who have exams coming soon or are in progress. Grats and a big “Fack you” to those who are done! Hehehhe.. Peace out y’all!
