Merdeka Prank

Selamat Hari Merd... Ah fuck it. It's just another day off for most of us.

Anyways, in conjunction with our "Independance" Day... some dude edited the Wikipedia page on Malaysia to this... Just click on it to see it full size!

The Malay Reich. Hahahaha!!!

Hahahahaha... I got this off a friend's blog. Have a good one.

Peace.

District 9

Warning! Spoilers ahead!

Damn... it's been awhile since I've watched a movie. Reasons?

Simple...

The crowd here's way too picky. Lack of funds. There's really... not much of a crowd. I even skipped G.I. Joe!

Anyways... District 9... I watched it on impulse. Just got called out and picked out a movie that seemed good. District 9, directed by Peter Jackson, very same fat man that did LoTR and that stinkin' ape movie. Not Planet of the Apes, but King Kong. Man, that was a waste of time and money.

Either it's me, or it's just that this movie sure takes the high road on it's plot, 'cause I didn't see anything coming. Then again... this is Peter Jackson dude. It's not some A- grade horror movie.

One thing I gotta say, is that this movie is wild and gross. I mean... damn... a dude that grows an alien hand. It's a slow, painful and gross process, believe me. One thing I thought about Wikas, the main man, is that he was one selfish son of a bitch, but I understand... seeing as he is an everyman that just wants to see his wife and life back to the way it was and is being pursued by a shady group that he used to work for.

The first half basically highlights his struggle with his grotesque transformation into an alien and how the government experiments on him because he becomes to 1st human ever to use alien tech, seeing as the alien's tech is activated by alien DNA.

One thing that will lead most to believe there's a sequel coming, is that most information about the alien's motives have gone untold. Besides, the ending also suggests that. They kinda left a load of shit hanging.

But the final battle, where Wikas gets into an alien walker mech, is awesome. He turns around from being a selfish little bitch and starts dishing out pain to the mercenaries.

Ol' Spiky's Rating: 3.5/5 It's not the perfect movie. It grossed me out. I failed to see the internal struggle of the character but it's an overall solid movie, keeps you wanting more and that alien walker mech fight alone gets an extra 1.5 from me.

A'ite then. Peace.

Melbourne Anime Festival (MANIFEST) 2009

Trust me… if you’ve never been to one… be it you’re a hardcore anime fan that’s bordering on being/is a weaboo (that’s street/slang for being a total Jap wannabe), or just enjoys anime at a healthy level or just wanna see chicks in skimpy clothes without hitting a skin bar, this is the place you wanna find yourself at!

MANIFEST, as it’s called, has been on for 10 years running. So yes, this is the 10th MANIFEST and its first time doing it in the Melbourne Showgrounds a.k.a Flemington Showgrounds a.k.a VU Examination Venue. So yeah… it’s motherfreaking damned close to my house. Just a short bus trip and I’m there.

So yeah… the dude that talked me into it was Mr. Danniel Adi Putera. Resident otaku and borderline weaboo. It didn’t take much talking into, really. I do watch anime… and I wanna see chicks in skimpy clothes without hitting a skin bar. So I hit 2 of the less degrading categories. What? Someone said pervert. Let’s skip the chatter and skip to the good stuff, shall we?

Danniel "Ichigo" Adi Putera

His friend, Willias, as a character from Soul Eater

The cast of Samurai X

Some chick

Kairi and Sora

Trader's Market Hall

Merchandise, merchandise and more merchandise!

Naruto in a noodle cup!

First off, I would like to say that I spent more than an hour in the line getting my pass. However, loads of colourful cosplayers passed by to get to the back of the line. I remember there was that DOA chick… which we could clearly see her thong. Others incluce a group of chicks trying to be the Ouran High School Host Club crew, the Red Power Ranger, Kingdom Hearts Cloud and a Masamune-less Sephiroth.

I gotta say, that the MANIFEST crew really are serious about this shit. While I was there, I saw so much merchandise on display and so much Japanese stuff. From Pocky to Japan’s most favoured soft drink! Or so I think…

The Trader’s Market Hall was packed with all these stalls… selling manga, magazines, figurines, anime CDs, Gundam kits and all the Japanese junk you can imagine. No hentai or any of that kinky Japanese “toys” though.

Pity.

There were other larger halls that they rented out at the showgrounds, one for screening anime the whole day, one for having special presentations the whole day round, like recommending some rather unknown mangas, and another one for main events, like the cosplay specials. Now, more pics!

Little kid as "L"

Me with Kirsten "Tifa" Dunst. No, she's not really Kirsten. I think.

A sim was spotted

Tobi, or should I say, Uchiha Madare?

Officer Jenny

I went for two panel shows… which were essentially just presentations. The 1st one I went for was for introducing some mostly overlooked manga/anime to the masses. Surprisingly, one was Ouran High School Host Club. I’ve watched that shit since CIMP! It’s a tad gay, with all the handsome kids being the main stars and the main heroine devoid of any estrogen. But still, the whole thing is just HILARIOUS and sad to say, the whole romance near the end has got me hooked. Yeap, call me a god-damned softie.

Picture time.

Rikku. It's gotta be cold eh?

Shit!!! It's the Red Ranger!

Ichigo meets his hollow self

Most of the Bleach cosplayers

HOLY CRAP SOMEONE REMEMBERED GENJO SANZO!

Let’s see… well in the end, I gotta say that the dude in the 00 Gundam suit won the cosplay competition. What? You wanna see the 00 Gundam suit? Here you go.

Seto Kaiba versus Jaden Yuki (?)

It's Ash from Pokemon! Get 'im!

I forgot which DOA chick is she supposed to be. Nice thong, though.

Oh... this chick. Choiy.

The winning entry (possibly) of MANIFEST '09's Saturday cosplay competition

Ahhh… it was a long day, but a rewarding one at that.

Anyways, I’m off. No work, luckily. I’ve done all that needs to be done for this week.

*grin*

Peace.

Manifest '09 - Sneak Peek

Sorry I can't blog about the Melbourne Anime Festival (MANIFEST) 2009 'cause I gotta clean my place up and study for my economics test on Monday.

Here're a few pics of cosplayers and the atmosphere at Manifest!

Pretty spiffy eh? The 90% complete set's on my Facebook already so I wouldn't need to spend too much time uploading them on my blog.

Alright then, back to studying.

Peace.

My Take on Religion

There’s one thought that keeps passing my mind and I keep using it especially when I’m talking to certain people, in regards to religion.

I am not forcing my opinion on anyone. I’m just putting it out there.

I’ve had times where I feel like the floor’s been yanked beneath me and I’ve just gotten lost. Usually it’s just stress and I find that I need something desperately to cling onto. That’s when I look to Him. Yeah, God.

But nah… every time I do, I remember how foolish faith is. Blindly believing.

I don’t have any qualms with any religion. I just have a problem with the concept of religion. I personally find it weak of people, to hand in their lives and leave it in the hands of something that has no substantial proof of existing.

It’s probably why I can’t accept religion... because it makes me feel weak, that I have to resort to cling onto nothingness in desperation and hoping one day, some day it will save you.

Then what do I believe in? Myself, despite being flawed, disappointing and imperfect. Strength comes from admitting, but not accepting weakness. I suppose I can go around and argue that when people feel that accepting religion is a weakness, they can be stronger, too.

Then again… I am looking for answers, if there’s such a thing as a God, an omnipotent being that created all and is responsible for everything that happens to every being in existence. Or is just that… everything happens due to random chance due to limitless interactions between beings from epic scales to the molecular level?

I suppose I can admit that by believing that there are answers out there, I am semi-accepting the existence of a being I have never seen, heard or felt, and that makes me weak. Then I accept that weakness, and thus my strength comes from my efforts into finding these answers.

Well, that’s my take on religion and this's just one glass panel on the kaleidoscope of whole take on religion. I realize it’s a sensitive subject, but I harbour no negative feelings to any religion in particular. You can go ahead and argue what you think of it.

Peace.

I Miss

… the 7th floor days, where everyday was a joke. Sober or high.

… driving with music pumping ‘til the rear view mirror shook. And then there’d be always friends that enjoyed the same music that you listen to.

… smoking. Too bad I damn well know now that it’s unhealthy.

… my family. Mum’s always naggy and grandma can be a real pain in the ass sometimes but heck, family’s family. Bro might be a fag, but he’s my bro.

… the food. Screw Penang. Ipoh’s the shit when it comes to M’sian food.

… driving, again, in KL with friends. Going places in the oddest of hours just to chill.

… the times when life was simpler and I knew less. Ignorance is bliss.

… the capacity to think. Some people really need a filter between their brains and mouth.

…civility. People really need to chill the fuck out and stop killing each other.

… my friends. They’re real bastards but past the mask, we’re all family.

… CIMP. I would fail and do it all over again, just for the heck of it.

Finally, I miss me. Since when was I such an emo little bitch?! Nah just kiddin'. Just bored.

Peace.

Monday Blues

I honestly haven't had the Monday blues in awhile now. Must've been years, I guess. I didn't have Monday classes last semester so that definitely must've been months. Last 2 years in VU... most of the Monday classes weren't that bad, so I doubt it. CIMP... I enjoyed everyday of CIMP.

School... Bah.

Anyways... I'm going to start a countdown! 25 more days to the release of Dissidia in Australia! I've already pre-booked the collector's edition. Not gonna make another mistake again with the Sims 3. This time at least I'm getting a bit more bang with my buck!

Oh yeah... might also be going on a day trip to Mt. Buller on Wednesday. Hopefully the snow hasn't become ice and throwing snowballs at one another doesn't prove to be potentially fatal. I can almost imagine it...

"Heads up!"

*throw* *crack*

*thud*

"Huh..? Crack? That's not how it's suppo... OMG!"

And then the headlines read "Malaysian student arrested for murdering fellow classmate during holiday"

Smashing.

Woops. Time for class. Long day ahead. 6 hours worth of uni with an hour of break. I can almost feel my nuts shrinking in protest. Son of a bitch.

Peace.

Sunday Morning Market

This is a tad overdue and I have something else to write about as well. So yeah… Last Sunday, me, Elly, Palm, Daniel and the new kid, Shevoune went over to Camberwell where there was a weekly Sunday morning market. Well… it’s like your regular pasar pagi… ‘cept that instead of fruits, vegetables, meat, and every fresh produce you can find in a supermarket plus some of the usual crappy Malay junk, Camberwell’s Sunday Morning Market was like a yard sale… or rather, a neighbourhood yard sale. Everything sold there was second hand!

Take a look.

Old school Michelin men

Hail Kleiser? Blitzkreig?

Girls shopping for more accesories

People shuffling about looking for bargains

Elly bought a full-length mirror… despite the fact that her new room has a wall full of mirrors. Real slick. So I suppose Palm’s going to take it. I bought Da Vinci’s Code and Angels and Demons ‘cause my prior copies have disappeared somewhere so it would only be proper that I replace them in my library back home.

Also, it makes a good toilet break read.

Daniel got one of those adventure books. You know, the ones where when you make decisions you need to flip to different pages in the book. Yeah, ‘cept this was a pocket-sized one. Nifty. He also bought a handkerchief magic book. I can’t think of anyone still using a damned handkerchief in their act anymore. Maybe an amateur up-and-coming sidewalk magician but hell… even for parlour tricks it’s gotta fall a bit flat, innit?

Not to say that his purchase was bad, just stating a point. And hey, who doesn’t like a good bit of magic?

Funny thing… or rather, lucky thing, happened… if there’s even such a damn phrase… Anyways, it so happened that when Palm, Elly, Daniel and Shevoune went ahead with looking ‘round the market one last time before the place closed down, I stayed behind to guard the lunky mirror. And the stall that was right behind the mirror was a dude selling old Legos. I’m not talking about like 1998 models. I’m talking like… 1960s stuff!

So by the looks of it, the dude knows his way around the rare shit. So I asked him if he knew where to find rare and discontinued sets. So he immediately jumped up, took my number down and asked me what I wanted.

Sweet. I am one step closer.

Straight after, we went to Sofia’s for lunch. Hefty Italian shit right there.

2 types of pasta and a seafood platter. *grunt*

Nuff' said man. Nuff' said.

Shevoune, Daniel, Elly and Palm

We stopped over at Southern Cross station and went over to DFO for awhile to show Shevoune more of Melbourne. Funny part was… the whole time, Palm was lugging the mirror around!

I just had to go and say, “Dude, you gotta be the vainest dude around ‘cause you need to carry a full length mirror everywhere you go!” Later we took a long scenic route over to Crown and back to Flinders ‘cause Daniel wanted to show me and Shevoune the feeling of the whole walk down that lane. I admit it’s got a feel to it but he was overspamming the fact that it made the feeling you had initially ebb off you like goo.

Touchdown on Flinders and we took off to Footscray the next instant. Ahhh… long day. Home. At last.

Time for gym. Peace.

Bboy Joker

I've already posted the link up on Facebook but what the heck... here's for those who check in on Facebook like it's a senile great grandma that used to awkwardly ask your friends for sexual favours.

Shit. Bad image. Wildly hilarious, though.

*in a toothless kinda voice* "Hey there sonny boy... you wanna feel like a horse? 'cause I'll be your cowgirl!"

Nasty.

Here's the video.

Music in this video is The Spark, by Design-S. Music in the following videos are Fly, also by Design-S. The songs are readily downloadable on the dude's website. Just google Design-S and you should hit his site. Enjoy.

Peace.

P.S: Went to the Sunday Morning Market yesterday. Will post about it when I get some free time.

The Prince of Pipe

Well... Raashid's left Malaysia after being in the country for 3 years. As the chap puts it, "It feels like I'm leaving home and into a foreign land"

I feel you man. Even leaving Sunway that last time felt like leaving home... again. Hold on. I never had any qualms on leaving Ipoh. Maybe leaving Malaysia. Yeah, that's the feeling.

So... even though I can't say we've been real tight buds, we've known the other existed over the last 3 years and you were one of the coolest housemates for that 1 short year and considered family on the 7th floor. Here's to you, Raashid, the original Prince of Pipe. Cheers.

I wish you luck and prosperity in whatever you do and wherever you go in years to come. Your taste in softy movies will keep me tickled for as long as I can remember!

Gonna miss all the crutches in 710. Hahahaha...

Peace.
