You Be The Judge

Rushdi came into 710 and started playing a video from YouTube and asked us to guess the band’s nationality. It had that y’know, American whiny voice. Bowling For Soup kinda voice. One of the semi-rare voices in American music. The All American Rejects voice is something else la. How can a guy sound like he’s crying AND singing at the same time?

Anyways, that’s beside the point. Watch this.

Probably some of you guys have seen this before. But fuck, I can’t believe this is local music! The local scene has definitely evolved from Slash-lookalikes with 80s fashion sense and well… generally crappy music and rock/rap bands. I absolutely detest Linkin Park rip-offs, man. These bastards just made people condemn the genre even more. Fuck you.

I seriously can’t believe I was KIND OF dissing the local music scene just a few weeks back. The quality is a’ite. I’m sure all these people have put in loads of blood, sweat, tears and semen into their work but it ain’t stuff that we haven’t heard before. The way they present their work is also well, hardly groundbreaking. But these guys, although they’ve copied some stuff, they copied it good. Let’s see where time will take them, shall we?

MUISS Futsal Tourney

I had to attend it. Chicks playing futsal and a whole bunch of strangers. Sounds grand. Too bad I wasn’t playing ‘cause I skinned my knees a few days back. Blood’s all dried up and shit but still hurts a bit when I bend too much. Anyways, 1st half of the tourney was both male and female matches. There was this all-Aussie team consisting of like, five to six huge Australian dudes and one brown/black dude with a western accent. Either way, the brown guys were definitely way too fast for them as it was cake walk the whole tourney.

Unfortunately, with victory comes with sacrifice. This wasn’t really counted as sacrifice but Raashid dived for the ball when he was keeper and landed awkwardly on his shoulder. He was screaming like a pig heading to the slaughterhouse, man. Doc said it was a torn ligament and he needed to take it easy for a few days. Poor guy. Holidays just started some more.

Class started and the week passed by like any other week. Introductions and all that crap. Let’s see what happens next. Peace out y’all.
