There IS a 1st Time For Everything

Believe me, there is a 1st time for everything... Maybe some of you are still kinda skeptical and all that but trust me, one day, you will realize the truth behind the quote! Alright, there is no grand epic tale for this famous saying, but I just celebrated my 19th birthday at Maison's with Ivan, William and his girlfriend, Carol, Christine, Shantee, Sindy and Yean May. There were some other punk friends of William's that came as well but we hardly talked. Ah whatever. I remember in the past, if I am not mistaken, that I had condemned clubbing in a rather harsh way. It was early last year, during a rather turbulent stage of my life. Anyways, I came, I saw and I had a great time! Truly, I have seen the other side of the world. The world that emerges after mummy and daddy goes to sleep. It's nothing short of the world depicting in shady games or movies or games like NFS Underground and all that jazz. Club patrons driving cars from Kancils to Mazda RX8s to SLKs and CLKs. Damn man, I can't begin to describe the atmosphere but I hope that as I tell you the story of how the trip unfolds, you will get a better insight on how the atmosphere was like. So, here goes...

College

Initially (this is all from my own understanding and observation. You are free to correct me if the events are a bit off), Ivan had this clubbing thing planned for quite awhile. He was asking everyone and Kang Wei as well. This all happened at the college foyer. I was sitting there, minding my own business, reading up on the BS notes for the upcoming test, listening to music as well. I wasn't really surprised that no one asked me, since I can be considered as the "new guy" in the clique, putting aside the fact that me and Ivan were quite good friends since the beginning of CIMP. Soon, nearing the end of all the planning and conversation, Ivan finally asked me if I wanted to come. However, since it was my birthday, I thought Shakira and gang had planned something nice for me. I messaged back and they were thinking about going to watch the new Mr Bean movie. Sounded kinda lame for some celebration day, in my honest opinion. Guess it was nothing extravagant. *sigh* However, I didn’t want to go dump them for my other friends so I was in a huge ass dilemma before Rushdi said he was busy and couldn’t make it. So, I told Shakir to stall the plan and go the next day. Therefore, that left my night open for clubbing! So, I found out that the club that we were going to was Maison. There are some other small details that led to the complication of the hours ahead in the story but I shall skip ahead

After College

After the BS test, which made me yawn so damn much, it was pouring outside like mad. I had to go home to bathe and change for the night ahead! It is definitely not the best weather to be around when something this grand is about to happen! William later decided he wanted to go to my house and take a bath so he drove us there, but not before sending his girlfriend, Joey, to the condo hostel. Phone calls here and there regarding timing and transportation were made and eventually an agreement was reached. I went to see Piumi and Mizna before leaving since I haven’t seen them for the whole day… Especially on this special day. So, I went there, talked a bit and Piumi gave me a hug for my birthday, Thanks, nangi! =D I left back for my place later to see how William was doing and we eventually left right after Piumi and Mizna came over to use the wireless connection.

The Complication

Yeah, here’s where the headache begins. We first go for dinner, with Ivan and Joey tagging along. I eat at Medan for the 1st time at night and also the 1st time after I swore to boycott them. Ah dang. I just realized that fact. Damn. Anyways, there were some people late and all that, not going to mention names, you know who you are, and people getting dead pissed. You can cut the tension in the air with a knife, I swear!

Loose Ends Tied

After all was said, done and crapped on, we finally get it on and sped on into the night to Maison! William’s car had him, Joey and Ronald. Ivan, me and Ashley aka Christine were in another car and lastly, Yean May, Sindy, Carol and Shantee were in the last car. Off went the three cars, a Myvi, Proton Wira and old Honda Civic model into the highway that was riddled with other mad KL drivers and the unrelentless rain.

Maison

We finally arrived at almost 11 pm! Joy… A plan that was meant for it to start at 6 had become horribly wrong and sour due to faults from various parties. No names mentioned, as usual… The important thing was we were here! It seemed kind of slow at first. There weren’t much people and there was no people dancing at all! It looked kinda sad to me and a bad impression has started to grow within me at that time. As time went on, things happened and the other guys and girls started drinking a mix of coke and Chivas like a goldfish in it’s fishbowl .I, under the 5 precepts that and also the fact that the damned stuff makes my ass itch harder than a Herpes patient in an overdrive of his disease. Yeah, that bad. Alright, I’ll try my best to describe the surroundings but the architecture and planning of the building is hard to explain so I won’t even bother to try. It is kinda dim in there (like, duh) and there were some variable color lights near the dance floor, as usual. There were small little counters that had all the hard liquor and stuff behind the counter and stuff. We ended up in the right, corner, nearest to the dance floor. As time moved on, me and Ivan’s eyes had inspected every possible hot chick in the place. There was definitely more than we could handle. The way that they dress… Makes Ipoh look like a town full of bad fashion transvestites, man. Eventually some chicks went up the platform that was located in the middle of the dance floor to dance and the crowd started going wild. As things progressed, we all started dancing as well but the music was absolutely horrible at the beginning. Halfway through, William’s friends had come over and joined our table and opened a few more bottles. I’ve nothing good to say about time besides the fact they have the potential to be a bunch of fun drunkards to hang out with. Besides that and the rather lame courtesy, they’re cool. While the girls, I and Ronald were dancing near/on the platform, there were these huge black chicks that came outta nowhere and I think I blacked out from sensory overload, in a bad way. So, I backed up to the table in fear with Ronald and then some of the girls came back after complaining it was hot. The damned place was packed and people were smoking like freakin’ chimneys! While I was watching the people dance, I saw one of the blue lights shine on this Malay girl who had her hair tied in a simple ponytail. Butt ugly. When the light shone on her, I swear that she bore an uncanny resemblance to Mr Shim from afar! It was so freaky! Later on, there reached a time where we almost wanted to leave but couldn’t because SOME people decided to ditch us for other people… And others had problems of their own… I have a strange hunch it has a form of relationship with the alcohol served. Hahahaha… When me, William, Joey and Christine and Ronald were looking for the rest, some dude comes up to me and recognizes me as “Durian” from VU and also “the band dude”. He talked a bit and his girlfriend (?) comes up and talks to me as well. We exchange some rather non-important info and he goes off, but not before his girlfriend tells me that she likes guys that are musically-talented. Interesting… During our searches, William’s girlfriend, Joey, got hit in the eye by a stray dancer on the way out. So William and Joey bailed back to Sunway for some ice. Ah well. So that leaves us one car short and just the right amount of people to party with. Eventually we found everyone, except Carol and Shantee, who allegedly was lurking on the top floor taking pictures of themselves with unrivalled zest and glee. We danced on a bit more and the nice music finally came, much to our disappointment and happiness as well. Somehow we had much energy to spare. Freaky. Eventually we were all burned out and Carol and Shantee finally turned up and we took more pictures outside and Carol somehow dragged this other dude with her. He looks very familiar, somehow. Ah well, I’ve seen way too much people in my lifetime. There was this fear of getting to a roadblock and all that jazz so I drove Ivan’s car back and Ronald drove Yean May’s car. I was very unfamiliar with the car so the drive wasn’t exactly smooth and it didn’t help with Ivan spewing negative comments and advice to handle the car. I wasn’t familiar and I was trying. Somehow, Ronald went ahead and we lost him but we found our way back to Sunway. Phew. Safe, at last. I will definitely go again and I hope to get to know these people better so it would be a much greater time. Here are some pictures that we took while we there.
